Toilet Paper for all!

Given the soaring price of consumer goods in this country.. Reed and his friend Dwayne decided to contribute to humanitarian aid and give the "less fortunate" some extra toilet paper.
This was their first "service project" and it was very funny to watch. They got scared at every car that went down the street a block away from them... and would (very GI Joe-like) run for cover. I'm sure no one will ever know who it was since they left their masks, and a steady trail of broken toilet paper in front of our house.

Wet floors

Our floors are always wet from kids trailing in and out from the pool, so it was no surprise when the bathroom floor was wet. The problem was it was wet from under the wall. After a day or two we started to wonder why it was still wet. Being the investigative, smart, intelligent, and suspicious...(did I mention smart?) ...person I am, I went to the other side of the wall to see if any water was there. Sure enough the carpets were soaked under our book cases in the den. ( This also explains the " rancid smelly shoe smell" we had noticed.) So Dan got his plumbers crack pants on and went to work. He tore away the oak paneling (which will be like a puzzle to put back together) and cut into the drywall and found a pinhole leak. These leaks plague our subdivision and this is our 2nd since we moved in. He patched it and it seems to be holding and the carpets & wall are starting to dry out. Dan was so happy that none of his beloved books got ruined. I was hoping a few of the WW2 books would get wet. Maybe I will soak a few of them before he notices that it wasn't the leak. OOOppppsie!

Jill's Wedding

Our niece Jill got married yesterday. The girls were flower girls and loved to see their cousin all dressed up in her wedding dress. Reed was bored for the most part until the cake and candy table was discovered. The reception was huge and there were about 400 people. The food was good and it was nice occasion. Ben (the groom) has an identical twin, and during pictures Dan kept trying to convince Jill to have a picture taken with Ben's twin.

Heidi kept going down into the gardens of the reception site and making out with this "bear" statue. I had to keep a close eye on her as it got dark. I didn't want any coyotes to come scoop her up for dinner.
Reed did a labor of love and set up the dance floor for the bride and groom with flower petals. (seems the florist "forgot" to do it) It kept him busy for at least an hour. He was so proud. We really like Ben, they are crazy in love and we wish them a they have a long, happy marriage.

Sniffle, Sniffle :{

Today Heidi started her first day at Miss Julie's Preschool. She goes on Tuesdays and Thursdays for 3 hours. She was excited to go but was confused why she was taken to Miss Julie's house and not a "school" building. I dropped her off with Dan then came home. When I opened the door it was the strangest feeling. The house was empty. It was so sad. I guess I'm entering a new phase in life. Its a good thing she has 2 years left before kindergarten or I would have been in tears today. All the kids are getting squeezed when they get home from school today.

Lingerie is not for newlyweds.

Jill's Bridal Shower is tonight and in looking for a gift I kringed at the thought of giving her kitchen "stuff" and then thought the typical gift for a bridal shower would be some sort of Lingerie. Upon further thinking...I did not get her lingerie because; If you are a newlywed and already need to "spice it up" with lingerie your'e heading for trouble. So, I made her a quilt. And since I probably won't see it again and my fingers are still raw from quilting all night to get it done on time, I decided to take a picture to share with the blog. Maybe, I will get her lingerie when she has a baby shower someday.

First Day of School...Yippee!

School is back in session and I can't decide which is better, when the kids get out for summer, or when they go back in the fall. The house was quiet today and Heidi has already started talking to her imaginary friends again...Luckily she starts pre-school next week and will be occupied for two days a week in the mornings. Ashley (3rd grade) and Emily's (2nd grade) classrooms are next door to eachother so they are happy to be close together. Reed is a little nervous. He is in a tiny classroom with 36 other 6th graders. They are literally crammed together in rows like the cattle in Norco. (Good thing they had the "Hygiene" film last year.) It is also rumored by "well-connected" parents that his teacher is "not-good". So it will be interesting to see how this year pans out for him. As for me...... it's back to my Soap Operas and Bon Bons for another 10 months.

The last beach pictures.

O.K. in looking at the blog I realize just one more beach picture will annoy the hell out of anyone who doesn't live here so ... here are some more!

We had a family bbq to celebrate "the boys's" birthday and to say goodbye to Marshall as he leaves to start his freshman year at BYU. On another day Geeb visited and some snorkeling attempts were made off of shore, before they got "too tired" and came in.
